Journey progress

The journey progress bar shows how close a learner is to completing a journey. Depending on the journey settings, Collegial calculates this progress in one of two ways: by completed items or by time invested.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

How “Complete obligatory items” works

Collegial calculates progress by counting obligatory items:

  • Complete obligatory items ÷ total obligatory items

Collegial ignores optional items when it calculates progress.

How “Invest set amount of time” works

Collegial calculates progress by comparing effort done to effort required:

  • Effort done ÷ effort required

Collegial caps the progress at 100%.

How sections affect journey progress

If a journey includes sections, items inside each section contribute to the learner’s overall journey progress. Collegial updates the journey progress bar as the learner makes progress through items inside a section.

Collegial still marks a section as completed only when the learner completes all obligatory items inside that section.

Why section progress may look “stuck”

Progress can still look stuck when Collegial cannot count progress for an item.

This is most common when:

  • The section includes an item where the content provider does not send progress data

  • The learner has not made measurable progress inside the items in the section yet
