Where partner progress comes from
Collegial regularly syncs course progress from your content provider.
For each course, the provider sends:
- The learner’s percent complete
Collegial also fetches:
- The course planned duration
How we calculate learning effort
Collegial calculates learning effort using:
- Percent complete × planned duration
Example:
- Planned duration: 2 hours
- Provider progress: 50%
- Learning effort added: 1 hour
Collegial updates this whenever new partner progress arrives.
What we do with that effort
Collegial converts provider progress into learning effort (time) and adds it to the learner’s total learning time in Collegial.
This total learning time can also help complete journeys that use the “Invest a set amount of time” completion criteria.
What we exclude
Collegial does not calculate learning effort when:
- The provider does not send progress for that content type
- The course does not have a usable planned duration
Example:
- Some Pluralsight content types do not provide progress data, so Collegial cannot calculate learning effort for them
Provider differences
Collegial uses the same method across providers, but providers can differ in what they can send.
Some providers may not support:
- Progress data for every content type
- Planned duration for every course
